There are countless charming, honey-coloured stone cottages scattered around villages in the Cotswolds. But as soon as Linda and James saw Rose Cottage, perched on a hillside, they knew it was something special. In truth it was the lush surroundings rather than the house itself which persuaded them to buy it, because, once inside the Grade II listed cottage, they discovered it wasn’t in such marvellous repair.
